Purpose of the role

Design, implement and lead the comprehensive physical security strategy of a large-scale industrial organization in Colombia, protecting its critical assets, production infrastructure, supply chain, employees and operations against internal and external threats, ensuring business continuity.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and execute the corporate physical security policy for all sites, plants and logistics centers of the organization.
  • Manage the integrated surveillance system: CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, alarms and perimeter security technologies.
  • Lead and supervise in-house and contracted security personnel (security firms), ensuring performance, training and protocol standards.
  • Develop and implement physical risk management plans: theft, sabotage, extortion, vandalism and unauthorized access.
  • Coordinate with local authorities (Policía Nacional, Ejército, DIJÍN) and industry bodies on security matters.
  • Design and execute emergency and security incident response plans, including evacuation and crisis protocols.
  • Conduct periodic vulnerability assessments of physical infrastructure and propose mitigation plans.
  • Manage the security budget with a cost-effectiveness mindset.
  • Ensure compliance with current private security regulations in Colombia (Superintendencia de Vigilancia y Seguridad Privada).
  • Implement security culture programs across employees in all areas.

Role KPIs

  • Security incident rate (theft, intrusion, vandalism) vs. previous period.
  • Response time to critical incidents.
  • Compliance level of internal and external security audits.
  • Coverage and operability of surveillance technology systems (uptime).
  • Security cost per plant / per ton produced.
  • Turnover rate and performance of security personnel.
  • Number of drills executed vs. planned.

Required profile

  • Ability to integrate physical security with corporate risk strategy and business continuity, treating it not as a reactive function but as an operational advantage.
  • Situational intelligence: ability to anticipate threats, read the regional environment and act preventively before incidents occur.
  • Firm leadership of operational security teams, combining discipline with people development.
  • Ability to negotiate and manage contracts with private security firms while maintaining high quality standards and cost control.
  • Expert command of physical security technologies: IP video surveillance platforms, biometric access control systems, perimeter surveillance drones and incident management software.
